Location:
Predazzo (German obsolete Pardatsch, in local dialect: Pardàc) is an Italian municipality in Trentino with 4528 inhabitants.

Situated in the eastern part of the Val di Fiemme at 1018 meters above sea level, it lies at the confluence of the Torrente Travignolo and the Avisio, which comes from the Val di Fassa. Predazzo is bordered to the south by the Lagorai range and to the northeast by the Latemar group, part of the Dolomites. To the east, the valley of the same name, crossed by the Travignolo river, leads to Passo Rolle and Passo Valles. Predazzo borders the municipalities of Moena, Tesero, Panchià, Ziano di Fiemme, Primiero San Martino di Castrozza and Canal San Bovo, as well as the South Tyrolean municipalities of Nova Levante and Nova Levante.

In 1447 the inhabitants were granted the most extensive self-government by the Prince-Bishop of Trento Georg Hack with the Regola feudale. The Regola of Predazzo belongs to the valley municipality of Fleims. With the dissolution of the prince-bishopric, after the Napoleonic era from 1815 to 1919, Predazzo belonged to the Gefürstete Grafschaft Tirol and thus to the Habsburg Monarchy. In 1819, the geologist Giuseppe Marzari Pencati made a discovery here that significantly influenced the prevailing understanding of geology at the time, when, contrary to the prevailing theory, he found rock strata classified as older lying on younger strata. Subsequently, Predazzo became the target of numerous field investigations and was visited by Leopold von Buch, Alexander von Humboldt and Maria Matilda Ogilvie Gordon, among others.
Until the First World War Predazzo was a garrison of the Imperial and Royal Army. In 1914 the II Battalion of the Tyrolean Provincial Rifle Regiment No. III was stationed here.
Until 1963 the village was the terminal station for the Fleimstal Railway built during the First World War.
