The climate of Bar is determined by its geographical position in the temperate zone and the proximity of two large area of water, the Adriatic Sea and Lake Skadar, as well as the direction of the central mountain range with the Rumija massif, whose heights range from 800 to 1,594 m above sea level. The city of Bar is characterized by long, hot and dry summers, and mild and rainy winters. The maximum mean monthly temperature in July is 27.8°C, and the minimum mean monthly temperature in January is 4.3°C. The summer season lasts from mid-May to mid-October, when the water temperature reaches up to 27°C. Bar is one of the sunniest places in Europe, with an average of 2550 sunny hours per year.
