The Spanish Visa for Digital Nomads (DNV)

was approved on 23 December 2022. The DNV also applies to family members, i.e. spouses and children under 18.

It allows foreigners to work in a home office from Spain. The main advantage of a DNV is taxation. It grants its applicants a special tax regime where they pay very little tax, unlike the standard IRPF (income tax) scale.

Applications for this visa are now open! Please contact us if you would like to apply for a DNV.

Tax benefits with the Digital Nomad Visa:

  • All income and assets held abroad are not taxed. In other words, any source of income worldwide is tax-free.
  • Digital nomad visa holders only pay tax on the income they earn in Spain from teleworking for a foreign employer. They pay a flat tax rate of 24% on the first 600,000 euros of gross annual income over a five-year period.
  • SYou do not have to file a "Modelo 720" tax return, unlike Spanish taxpayers.
  • SYou also do not have to pay wealth tax, unlike Spanish taxpayers.
  • SYou can apply for a tax deferral for the first and second year without penalty or default interest being added (as is usually the case).
  • For the purposes of other tax authorities, you are considered tax resident in Spain.
