Floridsdorf is the 21st district of Vienna. It was created in 1904 by incorporating the town of Floridsdorf and some surrounding villages, some of which later moved to the 22nd district of Donaustadt. Floridsdorf is the second largest and the third most populous Viennese district by area. Together with Donaustadt, it forms the part of Vienna lying to the left of the Danube.
Since 1996 the subway line U6 leads to the station Wien Floridsdorf. It crosses the Danube and the New Danube, coming from the 20th district, on the Georg-Danzer-Steg, the subway bridge built southeast at a small distance parallel to the Nordbahnbrücke, which ends on the left bank of the New Danube at the Neue Donau subway station.
Since 2006, the U1 subway line, extended northward from Kagran, runs via the stations Kagraner Platz and Rennbahnweg (22nd district) and the stations Aderklaaer Straße and Großfeldsiedlung in the 21st district to the Leopoldau subway station next to the S-Bahn station there.
